Women’s Zumba at Chabad Pensacola Jewish Center

About the Instructor

Hello! My name is Christa Rosen, my husband and I recently moved back to the Pensacola area, and are so happy to have reconnected with Rabbi Mendel and Rebbetzin Nachama at Chabad of Pensacola.

I have been teaching fitness classes in many different styles for almost 10 years, and I have a Master's of Fine Arts Degree in Dance from Florida State University. I currently work for a national talent brand, judging dance competitions and providing feedback to aspiring dancers in all genres of dance performance. As a lifelong dancer, I love exploring ways to keep dance in my life as I age and my body changes, and Zumba has been such a wonderful way to stay connected to movement in a joyful and judgment-free space. I am so excited to share my passion and energy for movement and to help you reconnect with your body through dance.

I can’t wait to see you in class!

What is Zumba, and What Can I Expect From This Class?

Zumba is a high-energy dance-based fitness class that uses dance movement and choreography to keep you moving in a fun and exciting way. In this class, I will combine cardio, muscle conditioning, balance, and flexibility exercises into fun dance phrases set to upbeat Jewish music. The goal is to have fun and focus on joy rather than perfection or whether you are “doing it right.” The choreography will be simple and easy to follow, and will be sure to get your heart rate up and allow you to break a sweat!

Each class will begin with a warm-up, preparing your body for the type of movement we will be focusing on that day. The majority of the class will be spent learning short and easy-to-follow dance phrases and performing them together with music. These phrases will be designed to tone your muscles and keep your body moving. Class will conclude with a cool-down to keep your muscles healthy and help you transition back into your day. Class will be designed for movers of all ages and ability levels, with plenty of options for modification given with each exercise. This class is perfect for those who are just getting back into exercise or those who exercise regularly and are looking for a fun way to change things up.

Please wear any workout attire that allows freedom of movement and makes you feel comfortable and confident, while being mindful that we will exercise in the Chabad center, a space where modesty is appreciated. Supportive and comfortable tennis shoes are recommended. You will have opportunities for water breaks during class, so remember to bring a water bottle!
